đđŒ Hey there, my name is Tim.
I am the writer and creator of Yielding to Yes. You can learn more below:
What is Yielding to Yes?
Yielding to Yes is a 12-part personal narrative project that documents my journey of reconciling my conservative, fundamentalist Christian faith with my queer sexuality.
On the surface, itâs the story of how I left my home country to pursue a Masterâs degree in Theology and Religious Studies in an effort to resolve the profound tension I experienced at the intersection of my faith and identity. It recounts the careful process of deconstructing my inherited beliefs, confronting both religious harm and my authentic self, and reconstructing my faith to create a more integrated and authentic life.
On a deeper level, however, Yielding to Yes explores how our ability to face and heal our inner conflicts is inseparably linked to our ability to address the conflicts in the world around us. Personal transformation and healing are not isolated eventsâthey are deeply connected to the collective transformation and healing of our world.
This project is about more than my experiences or specific issues like queerness or Christianity; itâs an invitation for all of us. Itâs an exploration of what it means to live an integrated life in a disintegrated world, and it encourages readers to reflect on their own lives with greater curiosity and compassion for both the individual and collective human experience.
I've never been more convinced that an integrated world requires integrated people - so I hope youâll join me in this important work of transforming ourselves so as to transform our world. The best part is we can do it together.

Who is Yielding to Yes for?
đ„ First: Humans.
Yielding to Yes addresses the universal work we all faceâthe journey of confronting our true selves, healing our woundedness, and pursuing the delicate process of personal integration, despite the myriad of forces of disintegration around and within us. This narrative was written with the hope that anyone might find themselves within it and find hopeânot just for the inner private conflicts they endure - but also for the conflicts that seemingly wage at every corner of our world.
That said, Yielding to Yes was also written with two specific audiences in mind:
đđ» Second: Christians.
With the wave of "deconstruction" happening in our culture, the stories of those undergoing this process are often misunderstood, scapegoated, or judged. Yielding to Yes seeks to offer a thoughtful narrative of religious deconstructionâone that is both intellectually rigorous and deeply personal. By sharing my journey, I hope to shed fresh light on the critical questions so many people are grappling with today.
In addition to my story, I also share research and papers from my Masterâs degree in Theology and Religious Studies. As someone who values intellectual honesty, these papers were pivotal in my deconstruction process. They helped me better understand the broader theological, philosophical, and ethical issues I was confronting. By offering these resources alongside my story, I aim to bring transparency that serves two purposes:
- For Christians who are not deconstructing: To provide insight into why so many people are reexamining their faith in todayâs culture.
- For Christians who are deconstructing: To offer clear points of reference, rigorous explanations, additional resources, and perhaps a model to navigate their own disorienting journey.
It should be said: Yielding to Yes is not a "Christian hate blog." While it is a story of deconstruction, it is equally a story of reconstruction. It was important to me to document not only the process of critically examining Christianity but also the work of rebuilding a more balanced and integrated worldview. My hope is to illuminate a path forwardâtoward something more faithful, true, and whole.
đłïžâđ Third: LGBTQIA+ Individuals Struggling to Reconcile Faith and Sexuality
For anyone grappling with the tension between their faith and their queernessâor with the harm caused by religious trauma and indoctrinationâYielding to Yes was written for you. Itâs the narrative I desperately wished someone had written for me.
This project offers theologically rigorous explorations of the queer experience within Christian spirituality, alongside a hopeful, personal example that healing is possible. Itâs a message that reconciliation can be found, religious harm can be overcome, and life truly does get better.
đ So - whether youâre human, Christian, queer, or a combination of all three, I hope Yielding to Yes serves as a catalyst for curiosity and compassionâ both for yourself and for others.
